Domaine Christophe Pacalet

BEAUJOLAIS │ CHIROUBLE │ Côte de Brouilly │ Saint-Amour
*Christophe Pacalet creates, in 1999, with his uncle Marcel LAPIERRE his own domain. He selects plots of vines, cultivated according to his ideal, respecting the wine and its environment to obtain the best grapes. His winery is locate just a few kilometers south of Villié Morgon, there’s a small village named Cercié, this is where Christophe Pacalet based his winery.
Un cépage, le Gamay …
10 façons d’exprimer son caractère.

Christophe makes wines today from a total of 8 hectares of vineyards, split Julienas (0,2 hectare), Chiroubles (1 hectare), Moulin à Vent (1 hectare), Chenas (0,6 hectare), plus larger surface equivalences for the white, the Beaulolais Nouveau and the Beaujolais Villages, which he counts in purchased-grapes weight more than in vineyard surface.

Like a growing number of young wine-makers, Pacalet does not own land, but rents carefully selected parcels based on the quality of the terroir and the age of the vines (40-80 years). The vines are cultivated according to strict specifications and by the principles of “lutte raisonnée”; that is, the abstention from the use of chemical herbicides, fertilizers and fungicides whenever possible. Besides the positive effects on nature and on our health, this approach encourages the microbial proliferation which is vital to the terroir effect.
